The Shefford Community Festival committee is aiming once again to bring the community together by doing things in ways that cost nothing or very little. We are focusing on the aspects of fun and support and are delighted that so many individuals and groups are contributing their time and energy to make it happen as a celebration of all community groups, organisations and spaces. It is important to understand that the festival is not organised as a single event by a central group but the product of many groups coming together in a common cause – truly a grassroots event. So the committee is delighted that our program is progressing nicely – we already have a draft program on the website including the following:
Opening Ceremony in the High Street
Community Market in the High Street and Pamoli Square
Eat Feast street food in the High Street
Shefford WI evening talk at the Community Hall
Café Hub at the Community Hall and a number of other Warm Welcome Spaces at the local Churches
Jo Jingles Music and movement at the STMA
Town Centre Market
Scarecrow Festival
Garage Sale Trail
With a number of other projects “in the works” such as:
A young people’s support group
A board Game evening
A mind Body Spirit event
If you think you would like to organise and event but could not afford a venue please contact us as we are aware of a number of halls and spaces who may be prepared to offer support for free. Please do not let lack of venue stop you – call us.
Please use our logo on your event publicity to help magnify the effect for everyone.
We are also working on a Competition to create a mascot for the festival – more to come but please get your creatives moving!
Do you have some time and experience to share on the committee – could you contribute to the Community Festival project? Please contact [email protected] to join the fun!
